What are you losing yourself in this holiday weekend?
For me, I’m ~finally~ picking up H is For Hawk after putting it on at least two TBRs, intending to read it every Nonfiction November and it being recommended for any nature-loving nonfiction lover, which I am. We all have those books don’t we?
Even after all that, I never even properly read the synopsis. All I knew was “woman deals with grief by raising/training a hawk.” I was sold from there. Now that I’m in to the book, I realize it has a very similar structure to Why Fish Don’t Exist, which I read and loved recently! Yes, we’re following a woman dealing with trauma, but she’s also detailing the life of a long-dead man, in this case author TH White, who also tried his hand at falconry. Such small worlds!
Anywho, I hope whatever you’re dedicating your time to this weekend is lovely — whether that’s books, family time and baking or just catching up on sleep and TV ✨
[…] in training a hawk. Lots of great ruminations about life and nature in here, so I’m glad I finally picked it up after it sitting on my shelves for so long. Finished this one up Monday […]
