I feel like this essay collection needs to be experienced rather than spoiled so I’ll keep this brief. Samantha Irby manages to make you laugh out loud in an elevator one minute, internally yell “YES. Me” the next and then balance it all with tragic recountings of family or dating drama/trauma. If you don’t think you like to laugh or cry, what’s not to like about essays called “A Case For Remaining Indoors” “I’m In Love and It’s Boring” and “Feelings Are a Mistake”?
Read it. Trust me. Then after that, go read my review for her newest collection, Wow No Thank You!
